About Sterna Systems
Our history
Our core product was conceived as a means to enable the migration of an application built using an old and dated technology to a newer technology stack, and to do so without impact on the business. We were faced with having to tell our business users that we would need to "go away" for 18 months or so to rewrite the application in the new technology, but realized that an integration layer could be built to allow both the old application and the new to co-exist and appear to the users as the same, single application. This proved to be very successful and permitted piecemeal migration of functionality.Universal Integrability Architecture
By divorcing the integration capability from the application layer, we found that we could not only support migration from any technology to any other, but also provide seamless integration across any platform, environment, language or technology. What does "Sterna" mean?
Since our original design was meant to support functional migration, we adopted the name Sterna Systems in honor of the Arctic Tern, etymological species name, Sterna Paradisaea, which has the longest annual migration of any animal on Earth, regularly traveling more than 30,000 miles. Our Namesake
